As we’ve done in previous years, we are running a Kickstarter campaign to offset expenses. It’s more important this year because we’re not charging admission.
The City of Providence has allocated a generous budget for the event, and is providing a lot of infrastructure. But some costs, particularly the costs of tents, have been more than anticipated. The good news is we’re buying our tents this time, and can re-use them for future events. Please have a look at our Kickstarter campaign and support us if you can (or ask your friends to help out).
We’ve brought back our popular backer awards: commemorative tickets and sponsor badges. If you’ve ever wondered about the design of those backer awards, you can read all about it in an article I posted on LinkedIn recently, Giving Back with Design, 3D Printing, CNC, and a Mini Maker Faire.
